History of Doncaster Golf Club

You are here » Home » History of Doncaster Golf Club

We have attached two documents that members and visitors might find interesting.

The first one is the report created by Dr A. MacKenzie in 1913 which is a new document  put on the website which outlines the plan for the original course. As many will know Dr. MacKenzie gave his name to the "Mackenzie greens".

The second is just a relocation of the Club Centenary book.

More historical material will follow later in the year including some photos from 1950. The one taken from the top of the hill at the 2nd is a stunner.

February 2012

The Course Plan, drawn up in 1975 by Golf Architects Hawtree, following the M18 incursion, has now come to light. If you open the attachment '1975 Hawtree Course Plan' you be able to get a clear idea of how the course was modified. It is particularly interesting to see which holes were lost and where they were in relation to the current layout. Note also that Hawtree's layout suggested a different order of play through the  opening holes which is not now adhered to.
